Apple to Expand Operations in India, Says IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad


India’s details technological know-how minister Ravi Shankar Prasad explained on Monday Apple would increase its functions in the region and the Apple iphone maker’s provider Salcomp would make parts at a plant in the vicinity of Chennai in southern India.

Salcomp will make investments Rs. two,000 crores in excess of the subsequent 5 several years to make chargers and other parts at the plant and the transfer will also produce 10,000 positions, Prasad explained.

Apple’s telephones produced in India will also be exported, he explained, including that exports of cellular telephones and parts from the region would be worthy of $one.six billion (approximately Rs. 11,500 crores) each individual this 12 months.
